There's only one thing I think they should have done more with...

I was expecting the guilty verdict, but then I expected some very clever "Seinfeldian" thing to happen and the verdict to be overturned because the four are a reflection of us and society in general, how we really don't care and are selfish and mock others and as Jackie Chiles said, "You don't have to help anybody, that's what this country's all about!)"

I was waiting for the big "punch" at the end that never came. Was the end supposed to be that since they were repeating their conversation, now that they are locked up, they have nothing left to talk to each other about...or am I reading too much into it?

I was expecting an OJ to happen. Even though all the evidence pointed to them being guilty i thought they would have been found not guilty. This is the first time i haven't laughed much during an episode of Seinfeld, it was very funny when they were all on the plane together. Usually the show plants scattered seeds at the beginning which all grow and come together for some hilarious ending. This didn't happen with the final episode. It's like they forgot they are a comedy.

Besides - all those "character" witnesses - most of them were just as flawed. Newman thought he got justice from Jerry's conviction, but Newman has just a long a rap sheet.

I don't know. I think sending them to jail was dumb. Like I said, the worst punishment would be sending them back to their wretched lives, and maybe alerting them to the fact that they do live such lives.

Interesting point to ponder. A black guy videotaped Rodney King getting beaten instead of doing something to STOP the beating!

But was that a bad thing? Could he have stopped the beating?

Actually, when you get right down to it, Cosmo produced a great hunk of criminal evidence that would help them track down and successfully prosecute the thief. Latham should have been THANKING him!

Right. I hate to be nitpicky about a sitcom, but any defense lawyer would have used that same argument. Suggest it and demonstrate a reason it won't work, but don't simply ignore what could have been a plausible defense.

I couldn't agree more - it was just so much fluff. I guess they all were but... I think it would have been better if they had pursued the NBC line further - the fake show about nothing could have been syndicated and eventually gone into re-runs. It would have been the mother of all story-line loops. I'm not sure how they would have made it work - but hey - that's why they make the millions.
