Doesn't Newman live upstairs from Jerry? Because in the episode when Jerry is trying to help Newman deliver mail to when that job, Jerry sticks his head out the window and yells up to newman.

As far as I thought, I always assumed Newman lived upstairs, b/c like you said, in many episodes he does yell up, but, as far as I know, they all are on the 5th floor. Jerry is in 5A, Kramer is in 5B, and Newman's door does read 5E.

But if you remember in The Little Jerry, when Little Jerry was training, Jerry said, "Hey, guess what! Little Jerry ran from here to Newman's in under thirty seconds!" - Now, I think the only way that is even possible is IF they are all on the same floor. Now, I know if I were a rooster, hehe, there is no way I could run upstairs or know how to take an elevator in 30 seconds. LOL. So, to answer your question, he's on the same floor, but I guess maybe Newman is sometimes on the roof or it's one of those mistakes the writers throw at us, hehe.

I'm pretty sure Newman lives on the same floor. In fact, in one (or maybe more) of the episodes you actually see Jerry walking to his apartment and you see him pass apartment 5E on the way. I think the episode is 'The Masseuse' but I am not certain. It's definitely around there though.

also there is an ep where george is asking newman for help and he says something like "i don't care much for u costanza, you hang out with seinfeld on the other side of the building just wasting your lives..."

so in that aspect newman would be on the other side so that doesn't mean same floor but does mean he can't be above him

and yes his apt number does have the same floor as jerry and kramer but that is only in the eps that he is believed to be on the same floor..when there is an ep with him on the upstairs they don't show his apt number.
