It looks like Jerry totally missed the whole internet thing, considering in an earlier episode he goes:
"Boy, I'm gonna have to get on that internet" when he's the last to find out about something.
Actually, I can't remember, but wasn't the email bit set a few years back?

Yup. It was set "Two years earlier", which would probably mean 1996. The Internet was definitely a household term by then.
