What's your opinion of Mickey Abbot? The Kramer/Mickey duo has worked in every episode where they've appeared together. Mickey's scrappy character is funny given the size difference with Kramer. Much of the humor of the double dating in the yada yada episode seemed to be solely related to Mickey's size. Is Mickey being used for his sight gag value?

I don't think Mickey was used as a "sight gag" in older episodes, but in "Yada" I felt he was used as a sight gag.
I agree that Mickey and Kramer's schtick was forced in this episode. Also, the writers missed a tremendous opportunity...when Mickey and Kramer were wearing the same shirts, it reminded me of Devito and Schwarzenegger in TWINS. I'm surprised the writers didn't allude to this in some way since Mickey and Kramer were as different as Danny and Arnold.
I was also bothered by the whole Mickey/Kramer subplot. Who dates two women without even knowing their names? And even if Mickey and Kramer were such cads, how could the women themselves be so passive and obliging in the face of such demeaning behavior? Especially in New York, where women are especially sensitive to weirdos because it's downright dangerous to be any other way!

I also love Mickey and Kramer together. The episode in which they were working as Santa and his elf at the dept. store was great. Same with the one in which Kramer was supposed to help Mickey audition for an acting role and showed up in jeans so tight that he couldn't sit down.
As I was watching the diminutive Mickey and the 6'+ Kramer, I was asking myself the same thing you did -- and I wondered if the actor portraying Mickey minds being used a sight gag. Surely he's well aware of the visual effect of the pairing with Kramer, but he enjoys Michael Richards and knows he's respected for what he brings to the show. Add to that the fact that he's probably being very well compensated and gaining visibility on one of the most popular shows in TV history, and he'd be nuts not to take the gig. ______________
Have Mickey and Newman met? I would like to see Kramer, Newman, and Mickey get involved in some sort of scheme together. I think it would be hilarious if Mickey revealed that he was into boating, and so he took Kramer out into the harbor where they met up with Newman doing something mighty suspicious. "The sea was angry that day, like an old man returning soup at a deli", there is a storm and Mickeys's sailboat(?) gets trashed so the three go through a Gilligan's Island-like parody. Any ideas? Sound workable? I don't think it sounds too far fetched, what if they washed up on Ellis Island and the police thought they were illegal refugees b/c of bad sunburns or something?

I also think Kramer treats Mickey with the same respect as other individuals. There are more wrestling situations, however. I have yet to see Kramer go after George or Jerry. But Kramer and Mickey make a great team and I enjoy seeing them together.

Perfect sense, IMO. I haven't seen the latest episode with Mickey, but I always remember the earlier ones. Forgive my memory, it's so vague, but I remember in one scene, Mickey & Kramer are mad at each other, and their bickering finally erupts into physical blows. I was so struck by how totally "non-discriminatory" Kramer was when he went at it with Mickey. I think that was the point I fell in love with Kramer!
