When Kramer says that he's goning to the beach to check out the girls, he askes Elaine if she wants to come. She replies, "thank you, but I have many female friends", or something like that. In another episode (can't remember which one), kramer makes a point about Elaine being a mans-women, 'cause she has no female friends, and she totally agrees. Well, it could be that she is just saying that in the hamptons, cause she thinks Kramers queston is silly...but still.

Fans debate whether Elaine's claim about having female friends in The Hamptons contradicts a later episode where Kramer points out she has no female friends.

Elaine having no female friends is when she asks Susan out, somwehere around episode 120-130. A few episodes before that, when she has the marathon runner who overslept the olympics visiting, she loses a female friend because the runner calls the friend's baby a bastard accidentally (he was impressed by George's rude language and tried to imitate it). The woman thought Elaine told her friends the baby had no father, and was pissed off.
The Hamptons is about 4-5 years earlier. It's very possible that she made and lost lots of friends in between. It's not like the characters are static and never change. Character development is considered to be a good thing in general.
Personally I think in the beginning she had many female friends, but lost them as shen went from boyfriend to boyfriend, looking for love but only finding sex, only to realise that she had no female friends left after those years of promiscuity.
