I apologize because I'm sure this has come up for discussion before now, but I was looking for an old thread and couldn't find any-------regarding George's ranting and raving in every moment of every damn episode. This is such an obvious mistake that I'm wondering why the show is letting this happen.

So George can have an aneurism as a plot device? I doub it.

Why is George so one note? Considering how nicely modulated George's character has been in the past, Jason Alexander must be miserable about this turn of events. (George used to scheme and reflect, he used to be smug and satisfied with himself, he used to think of himself as a charmer from time to time.)

And my question #2: Just what HAS Larry David been doing since he left the show? I know he's coming back to write the ending. But I'm hoping he'll help steer the show back on course for more of the remaining shows.

Just for the record----it's not that I hate every moment of these latest shows because some moments are good. But more than 50% of each episode is weak.

Put yourself in his shoes. $600,000 an episode is not much money in todays entertainment industry. Plus this is the last season and he does have a future career to think of. If he didn't really care he runs the risk of being cast as the the same character no matter what he does, so you'de think that it would have to hurt his dignity a little and he would want it to stop.

I agree with the original post. Last Thursday George played a very boring one-dimensional raving lunatic about a 50 cent candy bar. I found the bit uninteresting.

This episode also forced me to notice that George has really been depicted as simply a raving lunatic for most of this season.

Please bring back the other 20 personalities of George !

I'll give you ranting....it was 60, DAMMIT!

I'm with you though, an occasional "you know, we're living in a SOCIETY!" is ok, but enough is enough.

Where did George get the money to set up the exhibit of 10 chocolate bars? If he had to borrow to buy one, where did he get the other 10, and isn't this defeating the purpose of his ranting anyways?

Not the best episode of the season, but not worst either.

Yep, I think last week's episode was by far the worst ever. Really annoying, and just not funny...

Hmmm. I just love how folks we've never heard of come out of the woodwork to bitch about the new episodes.

I look at all these complainers and don't recognize very many e-mail addresses. Interesting. [email] (Hammer nail here--> <-- for a new monitor.)

Most people who complain about the (alleged) demise of this season are probably very devoted fans who have high expectations, not people who are predisposed to hate the show. I'd think that would be obvious.

Nothing lets us down so much as something we love and expect to love.

Actually, I just signed on to this group to catch up on the season. I'd been caught up in Nothing Sacred and Cracker on ABC till they moved to Saturdays. Not that I don't like Seinfeld...on the contrary, but it's obvious that everything on this season will be seen in perpetuty in syndie reruns, while NS and Cracker were gems that really needed my attention now.

This is very well said. Many of us just want to see the show go on (and I guess finish up too) on a high note. It's a show we've spent years loving and we only expect the same good quality we've come to love. We expect no more, no less. It's like the Soup Nazi said, demanding both perfection from the customer *and* the chef. That's all we want <grin>.

Do the math, smartass. I've posted about 1200 times to this group over a year and a half. Comes out to about 2 or 3 a day, right?

So what the hell can I be doing withthe other 23.5 hours a day?

2 or 3 a day? Are you kidding? You just posted 3 in a row less than 10 minutes apart and those were about the 5th or 6th group today and it isn't even noon. You may have averaged out to 2-3/day over 2 years but you do much more than that now.....

Well, true believers, it looks like Ratboy is catching on to us.

We're going to have to terminate him. But, as is done in all movies about plots to take over the world, we'll first explain to him exactly what the plot is, as if we owed him an explanation.

You see, Dave, Larry David is the reincarnation of the man who would have been the greatest leader in the history of mankind--President William McKinley, who was assassinated while in office. It is the responsibility of us in the Larry David Revolutionary Party to get Americans to realize the potential of an America led by William McKinley.

We at the LDRP have recruited trolls to post on a.t.seinfeld. Our strategy in talking about how bad the new shows are is to make everyone clamor for the return of Larry David to Seinfeld. So far, our plan is on course, because he is returning for the final episode.

After the final episode breaks all Nielsen viewership records, political consultants, seeing his brilliance, will hire him to write speeches. They will soon recognize that he is the best suited among all mortals to lead the free world. If they don't recognize that fact, they will have to learn...or else. So sorry you won't see what a great world will we have. }:-)

Comrades--Ratboy will be the first to be deleted using our new Kaczynski Labs Hi-Tek Mouse-Click Deletor(R). When he tries to exit this message, he will be transported to the Recycle Bin of his PC (or the trash can, if he uses a Mac, whatever). Since only we at the LDRP know the program to open him with, he will be eventually "emptied" and lost forever.

Dave--you are the victim of your own cunning. You figured out we couldn't REALLY be Seinfeld fans since we don't laugh at everything that is trotted out at 9:00 on Thursday.

I know what you're thinking--"Please, give me another chance!" but in response, I quote H.A.L. from "2001: A Space Odyssey":

"I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can do that."

Agreed here. If started off well but after 10 minutes turned rancid. George and the candy bar was the same joke as George demanding an apology over the sweater. I am glad that Seinfeld is going off the air. It is starting to sink badly, and I wouldnt want it to be beaten to death as All in The family was.

Kramer's role in this show was awful. This was the first time that I was ever annoyed with his presence in an episode.

THANK YOU for reminding us of the quintessential example of a great sitcom not knowing when to quit. "Archie Bunker's Place" was a miserable show. Even worse was "Sanford Arms" which was constructed out of secondary characters on "Sanford and Son." Most of us who watched the last M*A*S*H remember the travesty that was AfterM*A*S*H. Hopefully, this will serve as a warning to those who want a cut-and-paste "After Seinfeld" type show.

I'd gladly be in his shoes. $600,000 a week might not be much in the entretainment industry, but it beaths the hell out of what I earn here in reality.

I think I spotted Art Vandelay at a 7-11 in Kalamazoo, MI. What is the source of this name and does he actually exist?

Isn't this why they called quits on the show?

Bzzzzzt. Wrong again. I think someone put a stop payment on your reality check.

DaveOJz a Liar

Oh really? Here's an interesting quote from TIME (1/12/98) Why'd Jerry do it?

"I felt... the Moment. That's the only way I can describe it. I just know from being onstage for years and years and years, there's one moment where you have to feel the audience is still having a great time, and if you get off right there, they walk out of the theater excited. And yet, if you wait a little bit longer and try to give them more for their money, they walk out feeling not as good. If I get off now, I have a chance at a standing ovation. That's what you go for."

Hmm. Sounds like SOMEONE doesn't see a drop in quality.
