If Steinbrenner was ticked off by his portrayal, he at least had the smarts not to show it publicly. In fact, the night before the final episode aired in May 1998, the Yankees honored the show by having Wayne Knight throw out the first ball to legendary PA announcer Bob Sheppard's introduction, "Hello, Newman!"
George (Steinbrenner, not Costanza) is probably ticked off he didn't copyright the saying, "You're fired!" for T-shirts and such. Instead, it went to Donald Trump, who may be as publicity-mad as Steinbrenner, but honestly doesn't have a reputation for firing underlings on a whim.
