Fans discuss whether a Kramer bathroom joke was cut from 'The Engagement' episode in syndication, with disagreement over whether the line appears in their local broadcasts.
Damn those syndicators...my fave line from the Engagement got cut. Kramer and Jerry are discussing the finer points of being married and Kramer is talking about asking permission to go to the bathroom. Then he mimics a "supposed" husband who has to ask: "Is it all right if I go to the bathroom now?"
Anyway, to fit syndication they cut that line and I think one other from the same scene...dammit! Luckily I have it on tape somewhere else...in mono, no less.

Weird...I saw that episode yesterday and that line was in there. I remember thinking how I had just heard it in one of the clip shows...

Yes, that line was there in "The Engagement." A few other people have mentioned not hearing it...I'm in Boston and "Seinfeld" runs syndicated on UPN. Could they be running two versions based on stations or locations?

That floors me...I assumed ALL syndication was equal...I was waiting for the line and was stunned when it didn't appear. I rewound the tape later and there was an obvious change in background sound between when Kramer says: "It's like you have to ask permission to go to the bathroom," and Jerry saying, "Really." The laughs are high when Kramer is talking, then it's quite quiet when Jerry talks.
What kind of capricious dorks here at Fox in Dallas are cutting out random lines?
