1/29 Nancy Griffin Character

I'm not sure if anybody else knows anything about this, but I have a vague recollection that the story with Kathy Griffin making fun of Jerry and calling him the devil was based on actual events.(although the whole thing was a joke in real life) I think I remember once when she was on Conan or on Leno and she was talking about how she was doing this whole routine about Jerry being the Devil. Then she read a real letter from Seinfeld on the air (jokingly telling her to cease and desist and making fun of her because he was such a big star) Then I believe she did the same thing she did on tonight's episode and told Jerry to "Fuck You". Does anybody else remember anything about this or am I totally crazy?

I vaguely remember something like this about six months ago.

about a year ago i saw her on an HBO special... she had her own show. where she makes cracks at seinfled saying he is egotistical and such.

according to other members in the group here it has been said that she was on conan saying jerry is the devil.

i guess they had some kind of reconciliation.

She wasn't one of Jerry's girlfriends. It was in teh episode "The Doll." Jerry asked her to bring him one of those BBQ sauce bottles from her home town or something because it had a guy on the bottle that looked like Charles Grodin (sp?) and he was doing a routine on his show. She brought him another BBQ sauce brand because she thought it tasted better. Then he wanted her to bring him the Doll that looked like George's mother, but she brought him another one because it was cuter or something. She happened to be one of Susan's friends, I guess.

I'm almost positive this is the same character.

Right you are, "Girth." Your recollection may be vague, but is accurate, as NY Times writer Bill carter confirmed in a Thursday arts section report from LA, where he watched the taping of "The Cartoon" episode:

" The plot involving the performance artist, who is played by stand-up comic Kathy Griffin, is another familiar "Seinfeld" writing device: a slice of the comedian's real life. Ms. Griffin who is also a regular on the NBC comedy "Suddenly Susan," had an earlier appearance on "Seinfeld," playing a woman asked to deliver a package for Jerry.

" She went on to use the experience of filming a "Seinfeld" as part of her stand-up act, in which she satirically mocked Seinfeld. He saw her do the bit on an HBO special, and a new plot line was born."
