New Seinfeld: American Monty Python?

The subject matter may be stretching it a bit, but a lot of the humour in the past two seasons of _Seinfeld_ has been leaning towards the absurd and bizarre, whilst maintaining a poetic sense of aesthetics in the plots, which is not unlike Monty Python. This week's ep. with the talking belly button, for example, is much more subtle than the Python's Talking Tree News Anchor skit or the Businessmen With the Silly Walks skit but they are still in the same vein. I don't suppose people who like the recent _Seinfeld_ eps. happen to be Python fans for the similar reasons?

Very interesting take, Ken.  I never thought about it, but I have always
been a huge Monty Python fan.  And I have always liked Fawlty Towers.
I think John Cleese would be a mind-blowing guest star on a Seinfeld ep.

Not sure if this applies to the thread, but I know several Brits who adore "Seinfeld" because the storylines build on each other with frequent callbacks to previous episodes, much like several popular sitcoms in the UK.

Fortunately, we know "Seinfeld" is original, unlike several past and current TV shows and movies in the states.
