FWIW, "Mercedes" means grace or pity (in plural). The Spanish have a real knack for great-sounding names that lose ALL their charm once you know what the words actually mean. There's dozens more but I am gearing up to really let them have it in alt.spanish. What a stupid language.

Well, everybody knows (or should if they have the brains to think about it) that if there are a 100 people in the room, and 95 think one thing, and 5 think something else, then 5 are right because they comprise the smarter group in the room. That's one of the primary reasons why the world is as fucked as it is, but that's another subject I suppose.
