"Bosco"

In another discussion group, a question has come up regarding the Pool Guy episode. It concerns the subplot of George's "bosco" ID being uttered by Peterman's dying mother. Peterman subsequently thinks this is something important and tries to figure it out. We all know it's just George's bank ID and probably the last thing she heard before dying.

Something about the way it was done immediately made me think of this as a parody of Citizen Kane's dying word, "Rosebud". What do you think?

"Rosebud" was also W.R. Hearst's pet name for a certain part of his mistress' anatomy. And Citizen Kane, of course, was supposed to be about Hearst.

I despise "Bosco".. having been born & raised in NYC, I'm so tired of people who mispronounce my name "Bosco"!

BTW it was not from The Pool Guy episode. The episode was actually called The Secret Code.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was. We all know that Seinfeld has parodied many movies during its run . It would be fun if there was another clue in the episode that could support this though . I haven't seen C.K in years but IIRC at the end of the movie we find out what Rosebud is when it gets thrown in a furnace. In "The Secret Code" (wink , Cynth) Peterman finds out about bosco because of a fire.

Something about the way it was done just made me think of "rosebud". I'd l ike to see CK again just to see if the way she uttered the word was the same. It was so dramatic, like she was trying to get something really important across. And Peterman took it that way too. Like it was a mystery to be solved. When it was really just something she had heard as she was dying, with no import. Peterman also took it as a mystery to be solved. As I remember CK, we were left also to solve the mystery, as if it was something profound, right (it's been years). I had not known about the reference someone left about his mistress.

I used to Citizen Kane on a tape along with "Twelve Angry Men" and I erased it long ago to make room for .....Seinfeld episodes!! I kinda regret it now though.

Speaking of "Twelve Angry Men" , Jason Alexander would have been perfectly casted in that one. :-)

In the film, Orson Wells had intended for no one to be around CK whe he
died.  Later when a reporter asked Wells how anyone could have known
Kane's last word if he had died alone, Wells reflected on this for a
moment and then said, "Don't ever tell anyone about this!"  Funny bit of
trivia I thought.

I think that's a good observation. Another interesting thing is that George and Peterman were present when Mrs. Peterman died so they heard her utter "Bosco." But in Citizen Kane, no one was present when Kane died. So how did they know what his dying utterance was? Must have been artistic license...

Thanks all who have responded to my "Bosco"- "rosebud" question.

Now can anyone save my sanity. That damn Bosco ad has been running thru my head for a long time and I cant seem to get rid of it.
