puerto rican day episode ?

a co-worker told me that nbc got in trouble for this episode and had to make a public apology. any truth to this? what's the story?

The whole thing's stupid. Puerto Ricans were upset that in the episode, the Puerto Rican flag was on fire and Kramer was stomping on it. BUT, it was only because Kramer had lit his cigar then threw it backwards which happened to land in a car, right on the Puerto Rican flag. When Kramer saw the flag was on fire, to put it out he threw it on the ground and stomped on it. I don't understand it. It isn't racism. It was just a funny part of the show. JJ JJ

I agree the objections were stupid. It certainly diminishes my heretofore respect for Puerto ricans. :-)

The word 'racist' is so overused it has lost its meaning.

So if Michael Richards does not like Puerto Ricans (but I think he does) he is not racist. He may be prejudiced, biased, insensitive, or intolerant.

NBC told the Puerto Rican community that they would cancel Seinfeld. That seemed to placate them.
