In an episode of Seinfeld, a telephone solicitor calls Jerry and Jerry says, "I'm kind of busy now. Could you give me your home phone number so I can call you back after you go home?" The solicitor tells Jerry that he can't do that, and Jerry says, "I see. You don't want to be bothered when you're at home, right? Well, now you know how _I_ feel!" Then he hung up.

This is a _great_ way to handle telephone solicitors. Has anyone here ever tried this in real life? :)

I don't think thats exactly what he says., But its almost as classical as " let me finish this and we'll go watch them slice tjay fat bastard up " <Right?> as he's eating somethin in the diner.

If i had some scripts i'd look but nothin handy.

he's done that, and another one, where someone from the New York Times is calling I believe, and asks him if he'd be interested in a subscription, he says "YES!" and hangs up. I thought that was beautiful..

i've never tried it, i just say hold on a minute, and get my parents. if my parents don't want to talk then i just leave the phone of the hook until they hangup :)

I've done something similar IRL before I started watching Seinfeld: When a solicitor opens with "I'm calling on behalf of ---; how are you today?", I reply "Fine. Thanks for asking." Then I hang up.
