"The Voice" - Excellent!

	I have to say, I was very nervous after watching this seasons so-so
premier. I thought the whole show was going into some sort of sitcom "old age"
where everyone became cynical and mean, and the plotlines abandoned all
pretense of reality.
	Fortunately though, this episode was great! The plot with Kramer
getting an intern for his everyday activities was truly inspired. Best scene:
Kramer leaving his apartment before Darren could tell him that Elaine was
coming to lunch. Jerry: "Oh, by the way, Elaine's coming too."
Krmaer: "DARREN!!" Runner up scene: Darren subbing in for Kramer at the coffee
shop. "Then Mr. Seinfeld and Mr. Costanza had a debate over whether Ironman
wears underwear."
	Jerry abandoning his girlfriend for the priviledge of the voice
reminded me of him giving up Shmoopie for the soup. Great! Even the Elaine
plot wasn't too obnoxious this time. And I think George is much funnier when
he's happy and excited (like he was here) than when he's depressed about
something (which is most of the time). Anyone agree?

I had forgotten about Schmoopie! And you're right. Jerry cannot value a woman over something he feels strongly about, and I love it! The Elaine plot was great. I especially liked how they played the Seinfeld theme during the whole sequence. When she asked David for the next $50, I laughed. And her "Aww nuts!" at the end was beautiful.

Several other humorous bits: The Intern's decription of George cleaning his hands in Jerry's water glass, as Jerry was drinking from the glass. Kramer, after the ball failed to contain the oil, mentions his ketchup/mustard idea. Funny. Treat each new idea the same, whether it will save the world or not.

Jerry tossed his belt out because it touched a urinal. Last week he threw out a shoelace because it touched a men's room floor. I wonder where they're going with this. I mean, I know he's always had a 'cleanliness thing', but this may be borderline diagnosable OCD.

I was disappointed with "The Voice," not because it was all bad, but because it started so promisingly and ended with that awful oil ball bit. Kramer's intern Darren was hilarious, and it's too bad he had to go. I still don't know how he got arrested and Kramer didn't. Yes, the voice they did was stupid and unfunny, but the real joke here was that they liked it so much and it was so stupid. I would have loved the episode, but the ending spoiled it all for me. I hate it when they throw in this cartoon slapstick violence. That oil ball would have crippled or killed Claire, being dropped straight on her head from 16 stories up, and I can't accept that being passed off as funny, even if she didn't die in the show. Plus, Jerry could have just called to Kramer, who would have heard him easily.
