Does anyone know when the soup nazi episode will next air. Either in
syndication or as a summer repeat. It is my favorite Seinfeld to date and I

I watched the episode here in Australia and wondered if ever there was soup THAT TASTY!! It must be one heck of a dish, for hundreds to put up with that sort of temperament.

Anyway, is there SOUP THAT GOOD? TELL ME...I want some. :-)

Another thing...is there really a SOUP NAZI equivalent in NY? ;-)

I've been there three times. The Chicken with Broccoli is good but not particularly earthshattering. The Asparagus and Cheddar was quite good. The Red Bell Pepper and Potato was one of the best soups I ever had. The first time I went with my friend Scott and ordered a medium by mistake (only S,L,XL) and failed to receive the complimentary banana that Scott (who ordered correctly) got.

Sure enough, the Soup Guy (NOT a Nazi) has SPECTACULAR soups, and people wait over an hour to get some. His incredible soup and legendary eccentric behavior were well known to the writers of the David Letterman show, some of whom were tapped to write for Seinfeld.

If you are planning a trip to New York City to get your soup (hey stranger things have been known to happen), make sure you don't come during our Summer (June through September), because his shop is closed.

One thing you can do is take Kramer's Reality Tour, hosted by Kenny Kramer, the friend of Larry David who witnessed the show's conception, and is loaded with stories about the real life anecdotes that became story lines. It is great, I've been on it twice.

Yes, the actual Soup Nazi exists around the corner from where I work (he is on 55th b/w 7/8 aves., I think), and people line up like crazy. I hear the soup is incredible. Also, when I walked by I noticed a hand-written sign where people are supposed to line up giving them directions on how to proceed.

I ate at the Soup Nazi's a couple of months back. The line-up was around the corner of the street, and I ended up waiting about half an hour... and yes, it was worth it. I had the lobster bisque and it was out of this world. My friend had some kind of chili con carne type soup that was also very good. If I lived in NYC I don't think I'd go there regularly due to the line-ups but I HAD to try it.

Also, in an article in this past Sunday's (July 14) San Diego paper, the real soup Nazi was quoted as saying he doesn't watch Seinfeld ("the man is an idiot"). He also resents being labeled a Nazi due to the show ("I am no Nazi"). The article was about the "real" Kramer, who's a buddy of Larry David. It was written by a freelance writer; don't know if any other papers carried it.

Yep, neighbor, I read it too! I was surprised that George was based on Larry David. Also Kenny Kramer (the real one) has the New York tour; might as well do something to make a buck off of the show. It's something that the TV Kramer would do! Lois

The soup nazi does in fact exist in NYC and I visit him at least once a week. He goes on sabbatical for the summer and will be back in Sept. :-). The soup is incredibly phenomenal, but it really is just like the episode. People line up around the block and you BETTER know what you want when you get up to him or you pretty much get pushed out of the way! A real NY institution!!

Of course it's real! It's called the "International Soup Kitchen" and it's on 8th Avenue and, I believe, 55th St. The owner's name is Al Yegenah, but DON'T call him the "Soup Nazi," he HATES it! :-)
