how cool is jerry?

It seems jerry never panics. no matter what the situation is he always has an answer or excuse. example when he got arrested for public urination his excuses were genius. any other examples?

Jerry cant act! The only reason the show is such a success is not because of Jerry but due to the rest of the cast's brilliance...

i beg to differ. yes the cast is brilliant but jerry can act, atleast for the role he is playing. plus he is the best joke writer of all time. of course thats just my opinoin i could be wrong:)

Jerry did panic a few times when he thought Crazy Joe DaVola was in the vicinity.

He sure does panic when threatened. Take for example the gay armoire stealers, or the time with the cowboy boots when he's looking for his Nana.

I will slightly agree, the fact that he can't hold in a smile when he cracks a joke which really bothers me, but I think he is a fair actor.

Jerry's character is integral to the show. He is the one all the other characters bounce off of. He's the most "normal" character on the show, which offsets the zaniness in the others. I really like the stand-up parts that comment on some issue in the episode. In the beginning, he would do three stand-ups: one at the beginning, one in the middle and one at the end. Now there's only one or two. One of my favorites is the one where he talks about how laundry day is a social event for clothes.

RobinR nailed it on all fronts.

        Think about it. How funny would it be if Jerry was funny all
the time with three normal people hanging around. (yawn)
        Jerry gets paid the big bucks for being the straight man. Ask
any actor, that is the hardest job in acting. NBC thinks as I do that
Jerry is a fine actor. Seven digit salaries hardly go to an "OK" actor.
        I have only seen a couple of first season episodes with the
three segment stand-ups and I liked it much better than the one timers
of the recent episodes. They are talking about losing the stand-ups all
together next season... too bad.

So back to the original question... Considering Jerry's success, I'd say he's pretty damn cool.
