Tech on show.

As I was watching the "Chinese Restaurant" and George waiting to use the pay-phone; I got to thinking how old the series is (tech-wise).

Now he or Elaine or Jerry would whip out a cell phone. The restaurant probably would not have a pay phone.

Also all the answering machines on the show have tapes for recording. Now chip-base storage is used.

Jerry's cordless phone with the big antenna. Long gone! Kramer's too, but he gets Jerry's old stuff..

Don't remind me of the Mac.

And the WIZARD in the "Puppet Government". I think it was a real product? But long gone.

Any other tech-toys the gang would have now? Or anything else that "dates" the show?

In the first few series, Jerry had a big black square phone on the coffee table. That mac 2e you mentioned is a classic. On another ote, which episode is The Shrinkage in? The one in the Hamptons and all that... ?

In the ep where Jerry's car is stolen and he calls to see if the thief will pick up the phone in the car; he refers to it as the "car phone".

In the ep where Kramer tries to convince Jerry to get cable tv; they show a close shot of Jerry's tv and it looks pretty old. (Although it might have been planned ahead of time to use an old tv, because it get's destroyed later by the cable installers.)

Right on about the "car phone" as hardly anyone gets a phone installed in a car. If it wasn't for the hand-held there would not be as big a market for cell-phones that there is now.

The only way for the effect we saw to happen would be if the set had such a window which would make it extremely old. The window could have such a crack and the television set would still work. Heck, the earliest episodes were from 1989. The show *is* old. Of course the technology references will be dated.
