Fans discuss a Classic SNL rerun scheduled to air on Easter Sunday showing Jason Alexander's 1993 hosting appearance with Peter Gabriel as musical guest, with mixed opinions on his performance.
Lately NBC has been running a "Classic" episodes of Saturday Night Live at 1:00 AM Sunday mornings (immediately following the current season's episodes), and according to those who seem to know at the SNL newsgroup, this week (Easter Sunday, 4/23/00) it will be the show Jason Alexander hosted on 4/10/93. Peter Gabriel was the musical guest.
Comedy Central has rerun this episode in an edited (1 hour) version many times. It'll be good to see the full 90 minutes again.
The only sketch I remember from this episode was "Tales of Irony" which at the time I thought was hysterical. Of course, that was something like seven years ago. Hope it holds up.
I was looking though a tv guide and it doesn't look like they'll be showing it. It listed some "Motown" thing. Hope I'm wrong.

Not all NBC affiliates run the "Classic SNL" immediately following the regular one (if at all). My cable company carries two NBC affiliates (Philadelphia and Lancaster...I'm pretty much right in between)--the Philly station airs it at 1am, while the Lancaster station runs other programming first (ET, infomercials and the like), then Classic SNL at about 3:00 or 3:30.
Yeah, I double-checked with a different source; there are two NBC stations here as well. One shows the second SNL, the other doesn't.
