What's wrong with JLD's body?

I saw the 'Shrinkage' episode a few days ago (I don't think this is the actual name of the episode, but you understand what I'm talking about -- the one where they all go to North Hampton to see the ugly baby and to spend a weekend on the beach; Jerry's girlfriend walks on George, naked after swimming in cold water -- hence the "shrinkage").

But here's the question. The scene where all of them are sunbathing, but Elaine is sitting in a long dress and a head scarf (she explains that sun is just bad for your skin) immediately made me suspicious. The scene looks rather unnatural and out of context and it just seems like they didn't want to show us her body for one reason or another! (like, you know, that woman from 'Silk Stockings' -- I don't really watch the show myself, but a friend pointed out that they _never_ show her legs -- apparently there's something wrong with them!)

So what is (or what was) wrong with her body? Was she pregnant at the time? Curious minds want to know!

To me, it seemed in keeping with her personality that she came out onto the deck all covered up, especially when, after Jerry made the "Maude" comment, she said, "Look at my face -- do you see any lines? One word -- 'shade.'" (That's a paraphrase.) I just think the writers covered her up to add to the paranoid, overdoing-it aspect of her personality. (Although these days, with skin cancer becoming an epidemic, I don't find her covering up to be either paranoid or overdoing it.)

Then again, she could have been pregnant -- I don't know!

Actually, I did read that there were some episodes where she IS pregnant and they had to watch the camera angles, etc. to conceal it. The subject came up recently when that Hunter Tylo chick was sueing her producer for firing her when she was sick . One of her defenses was that the Seinfeld show covered up JLD's pregnancy...why can't they cover up mine?

I'm sure you're right. Probably I heard some radio pundit make the connection and I incorrectly assumed that JLD had been mentioned by Tylo's attorneys. thanks for setting me straight. For the record, I don't think Tylo should have gotten bupkis.

Remember the episode where Elaine had a crush on some sweaty guy at the health club??? (also the episode where George urinated in the shower). Anyway, JLD appeared in a very form-fitting leotard in that episode....and was definitely a candidate for a "Before" picture in a gym advertisement, IMHO. Considerable saddlebags on the hips....

However, that episode as well as the "Shrinkage" episode are pretty old and it certainly looks like JLD has gotten herself into far better shape these days. ====================================================
