Jason Alexander in a homosexual role.

I hear J. Alexander is going to be in a GAY movie. He acctually wasn't going to play in the role of a gay guy, but the first actor backed out and Jason took the role. In my opinion, I can't understand why actors these days are sooo facinated with GAY roles. If I were Jason, I'd pick a cooler role. Playing a GAY character is completely stupid. Who wants to see Alexander as a gay guy? Here he is this great character on Seinfeld and he goes off and blows his persona with dumb movies like "North", "Dunston Checks In" and this new GAY role. Stupid.

Just as an aside, the guy who plays the Pretender one of the roles in the original play. I don't know which character he was, but I think it was Steven Weber's role in the movie.

I heard about this movie MANY months ago, maybe even a year ago....he was even on the cover of a gay magazine. From what I can tell he planned on doing this movie before it became what you call actors "fascinated with gay roles". And what is wrong with Jason Alexander playing a gay man? Nothing from what I can tell. He is an actor, so what is he doing? Acting! You said he is a great character on Seinfeld, and that he is, but that is just a character and behind that character is a real person who would like some different roles for a change. That's what actors do! If you don't like it, then you don't have to see it, but to cut Jason Alexander down for doing something he wants to do, that's just silly, in my opinion.

Also, I don't see how "Playing a gay character is completely stupid." Maybe you would like to explain further on this, but I doubt you will change my mind in thinking that what you said there was "completely stupid."

I guess that was just your way of doing some gay bashing in your spare time. *sigh*

The name of the movie Jason Alexander is going to be in is called [address]! by Terence McNally. Since it was a Tony award winning play on Broadway and Alexander has an avowed interest in the theatre, I am not surprised that he wants to be a part of the movie version since he couldn't be in the Broadway version because of "Seinfeld."

As for acting, realistic gay roles (and non-comedy ones) are extremely rare. An acting pro, as Alexander claims to be, should jump at an opportunity to take a role like that.

A gay role CAN be a "cool" role.

I agree with the last person. Jason Alexander is just taking on a role that is far removed from his real personality or traits. An actor needs to take on characters that are unlike themselves. Actors like Jeff Goldblum tend to play the same character each and every time and never expand on their acting abilities. Why is it when Jeff Goldblum does an interview he's the same character that you saw in his last film? Because he's always playing himself. He doesn't take the challenge to be something he's not. That's ONE thing you need to do to become a great actor!
