That show had little to do with the individual candidates, and everyone knew an election was coming. They kept the plot free of any real issues, added the candidates' names to the script when they knew what they were, and taped two different endings. They knew that *one* of the candidates would win, whereas in the baseball strike you don't know when it will end or how, or what the settlement will look like, etc...
