Did you see it? The 1998 Clip Show (part II) (shown tonight in syndication) featured a never-before-seen introduction by Jerry (featuring Kramer) talking to the camera.
I know, I know...it's only 30 seconds or so, but, hey, after a year, it's good to see SOMETHING, ANYTHING new.....

I think that aired during the full-hour rerun last July on NBC (along with the 1991 promo for Seinfeld following Cheers).
I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF ANYONE IS SELLING ALL THE SEINFELD VIDEOS ON PAL VIDEO, OR RECORDING ALL THE EPISODES OF PARAMOUNT AND HAS PLANS TO SELL COPIES.

I was going to ask if anyone else noticed it too. I guess they shot it the same time they originally filmed the clip show. So, do you think the syndicated version of "The Finale" will have any of the excised footage from the network showing?

We'll find out for sure in November...the syndicators say that November sweeps are the earliest we'll see the Finale episode air (according to an article last week in the NY Daily News).
They have a lot of possibilities here. We know that the syndication run has contained quite a bit of reshot footage. One episode (The Handicapped Spot) was 50% reshot with new footage showing Jerry Stiller in the Frank Costanza role instead of the actor who was originally cast as George's dad for the episode's first NBC run. There have been other minor changes for syndication as well...for example, replacing Larry David's voice with Wayne Knight's in the early episode where Newman's introduced as a heard, but unseen character. Seinfeld has been altered for its transition from network to syndication perhaps more than any other recent network show. Many of those changes are for the better, despite the syndicator's trimming 30 seconds out of every episode to make room for one more commercial availability. So there's ample precedent for more changes in episodes we're yet to see.
They say an extra hour's worth of footage we didn't see, featuring the courtroom comments of additional people from Seinfeld's past, was shot but cut out of the episode that aired last May 14. None of that was put back for the rerun and none of it has been aired anywhere. But if you spliced it back in, you'd have an entire week of shows built around that finale, just the thing to end the November sweeps with. It would fill in the gap in available episodes left by the apparently permanent withdrawal of the Puerto Rican Day episode. What's more, you could even build added audience by raising one question...will the replay end the same way, or will the alternate ending be used? (There is, in the vault, a complete alternate ending based on the Fab Four being acquitted and moving on to LA. Jerry and Larry decided not to use it, though reportedly not because they were dissatisfied with it comedically...they just liked the irony of the dark ending that they aired.)
I don't claim to have any special knowledge of whether or not there's a chance we'll ever see that alternate closing for the show. However, it would be an interesting artistic move, maybe even coupled with a poll, either online or on the phone or both, as to which ending worked best. And the audience could even cast a vote that would decide which ending would be seen through the rest of the current syndication cycle...with that vote repeated again when the next cycle begins in 2001. Hey Castle Rock...any chance for that happening? If you did that, you might boost the audience and the value of the show in syndication cycles yet to come...

Yes!!! I noticed this, too! This is just like what they did with "Highlights of a Hundred" (the first clip show). Jerry talks about George, Kramer, and that girl.....Elaine. I think the second 1998 intro might be even better than the first one. I love the part with Kramer looking at the camera!
