Okay, here comes the start of a long thread about ethnic sensitivity. I didn't like the fact that they used Irish names for the Nazis. They named the woman Eva, so they should have stuck with the German theme and named them Gruber and Schultz, or something.
Furthermore, most white hate groups don't like Catholics and most Irish people are Catholic.

Yeah, I didn't much care for myself at first.
The "You don't look like an O'Brian---and you don't look like a
Murphy..." had me rolling. The Irish are about as far away from Jewish characteristics as
you can get and still be white. The next step would be a couple of
Japanese guys with Irish names. I thought they would end it with George acting like he was
O'brian, and give a speech denouncing the "White is right"
crap...Jerry was good, but Jason Alexander... what a talent!

I'm sure they didn't mean anything anti-Irish. Neo-nazis are not necessarily German, they come from all backgrounds. Also, there was a certain humor in two obviously Jewish men pretending to be Irish, and it gave the writers a chance to write Jerry's hilarious lines about "the peat" and "the cereal famine."
All this concern about ethnic stereotypes is reminiscent of the "Cigar Store Indian" episode. Relax, people! IT'S A COMEDY SHOW!!! For example, last night's rerun showed elderly Jewish people trashing a room in the Plaza Hotel and taking advantage of assorted freebies. Being of Jewish heritage, should I be offended at the stereotypical portrayal of Jewish people pigging out on stuff that they perceive to be free? No, thanks, I'd much rather laugh out loud at the funny stuff going on! After all, that's why we watch "Seinfeld"!
Not to mention "right on the border".
Add: The George Costanza character was aptly compared to several Woody Allen characters in a recent TV Guide. If you close your eyes during a Seinfeld episode, you might mistake George for Woody.

I don't know that there may not be something more to this...I have seen a tabloid type feature on The Learning Channel or one some similar channel like TLC trying to mix up militia's with white supremacy groups and groups that are fervently religious. One of the symbols or tatoos mentioned on the show was the Celtic cross. I don't know the connection of the Celtic cross to these groups except perhaps that these people know that the Celts weren't (aren't) very tan--a little mix up of race supremacy over Jewish people and over Black people. Did the two racists on the show ever do a sieg heil (sp?) or indicate that they were Nazis? I remember the demonstraters having anti Nazi signs and interjections but calling them Nazis may have been metaphorical. Perhaps the O'Brian clan were not really Nazis but just generic white supremists and the particular part of the speech that George read happened to be anti-Jewish and not anti-Black...
That's simply a case of going with the lesser of two evils.
Hey, Nazis are white supremecists; white supremecists are Nazis. The "Aryan Union" was an obvious take-off on the Aryan Nation, whose adherants profess great admiration for Adolph Hitler.
