What does Mr. Pitt do?

What is Mr. Pitt's job? I believe he was first introduced in the Ms. Rhode Island episode. He was at DoubleDay Publishers and then he asked Elaine to be his personal assistant. I thought he might work at DoubleDay but then he had that merger with the water company on last night's episode so what is it that he does exactly?

He is a friend of Late Jackie. Elaine's scarf and sunglasses caught Mr. Pitts attention. The Line i don't understand is " Elaine you can't have too much grace or else you can't stand up" said by Mr. Pitt.
