Does anyone remember the sitcom that Wayne Knight did a few years ago? It was on NBC and I think it started around the same time as Larroquette. The star of the show was stand-up comic John somebody (can't remember his last name). On the show, they worked in the newsroom of a newspaper I think, with Wayne Knight being the boss. John was recently divorced and had two daughters who stayed with him on weekends sometimes. Does anyone remember (1) the name of the sitcom and (2) John's (real) last name?

No, no shooting. I guy in the leading role is named John and I think his last name starts with M. He has a heavy New York accent. He has a stand-up half hour on Comedy Central from time to time. I think the word "Second" was in the title of the sitcom. (I am probably way off on the "M" and "Second" but I am sure there was no shooting.)

No, you're dead on with both. I couldn't think of the guys name either, but your "M" helped. It's John Mendoza. The show was called The Second Half. Mendoza was a sports writer and Knight was an editor for some small NY newspaper.

Newman (Wayne Knight) was in Jurassic Park as well. The dinosaurs finished him off but he did get alot of lines before he became dinomeat.I think he was in Basic Instinct also.
Wasn't Newman in the "Animal House" television series? Anyone remember that one?
