Why's Seinfeld so cool?
Fans discuss why Seinfeld resonates with audiences, explaining that despite being called a show about nothing, it actually reflects everyday life and human experiences in humorous ways.

Do you mean why is the SERIES 'cool', like enjoyable? Or why is Jerry Seinfeld 'cool', like the person?
I assume you mean the first. The show is 'cool' because it touches the hearts and minds of a wide cross section of people. It holds up our everyday experiences, our common successes and failures, our fears and desires, in a humourous and non-judgemental way. We laugh at things in the show that we can't laugh at in society; like masturbation, aids, bosses, legal system, rules and regulations, parapalegics, foreigners, etc. but MOSTLY we are laughing at OURSELVES and the silly things we all do.
There were 180 half hour episodes - if you would like to learn a lot more, you should read the FAQ and the EPIOSODE guide and other information which you can link to from my site below.

Exactly. I couldn't have put it better myself. I don't refer to Seinfeld as a show about nothing. To me it is a show about life.
I think I might finally have figured out why it was called the show about nothing when it was always about something. The show was about everyday life, well have you ever asked someone what's new, or up, or anything else to that matter...they will answer, most of the time...Nothing...

Actually Jerry was panned by an entertainment reviewer in LA when he was doing stand-up. The critic wrote an article and said his routines were about nothing. So when his show was a hit I think Jerry used that line to stick-it to the reviewer.

And subsequently, it was probably the running "show about nothing" joke during the "Jerry" story that popularized the phrase.
