Offensive segment

Did anyone else find last Thursday's episode (3/16) offensive? I am referring to Kramer's depiction of a mentally challenged person.

What are you, retarted? Kramer was NOT faking that he was a loon, he was in a fight and everyone though he was.

P.S. This was a JOKE! Like the episode! If you find yourself breathing heavy and your head ready to explode, I suggest you refrain from watching comedy in the future.

I just have to say, I am really disappointed by the reaction of the people on this newsgroup to an innocent question. I've been called names, both on alt.tv.seinfeld & through my PERSONAL (!!!) e-mail, simply because I implied that I took offense at an aspect of a TELEVISION PROGRAM!!! With all of the political newsgroups & listserves I post to, I have never been insulted for my opinions until now. I was simply trying to spark REAL conversation, but forget it. I'd rather be ignored.

Sorry to hear about that, Jessica. Unfortunately, about half the people who post here believe this group is called alt.kiss.jerry's.ass. ANY kind of criticism is verboten! I've watched this show from the beginning, I KNOW it is not as good as it used to be. The writers have reduced the show to gimmicks and implausible, unfunny situations. If you want an open, honest and interesting conversation about Seinfeld, here on this group, you're about 2 years late. Anyone who would flame you personally over your opinion should get a life.

I mentioned to my girlfriend at the time that they would be getting a slew of P.C. hate mail on that one... It did have me howling though (in the sense that I couldn't actually believe they had the balls to do it - great performance Kramer!)

No, not in the least. What does offend me is that we don't have more shows that make use of this type of humor.

Using terms like "mentally challenged", I'm surprised that it's the first time you have been offended by Seinfeld. Just remember, metally challenged people have just as much right to be poked fun of as the rest of us.
