Premieres: Seinfeld OK, Frasier WOW, Friends sucked.

The Susan foundation was quite good. The Janeane Garofolo thing was stupid but at least put a quick shot to the head of a previous writers' mistake. The Kramer karate thing was not up to par. The Elaine-running-Peterman thing should have been better - got sabotaged by the stupid Kramer thing. I liked the moment when Jerry was on the phone with his mother.

For goodness' sake I hope they get back to the Costanzas. And Newman.

If you want a show that came roaring out of the blocks this season, it's Frasier! If you didn't see the premiere, find somebody with a tape!

I feel almost the complete opposite of what you did. Seinfeld was a WOW!!. Kramer and Jerry were funny (IMHO), Elaine was cool (she had never been particularly funny in the first place), and George was great. Can this show get any better??

Before we continue, I'd like to point out how disturbing it is that you equate Frasier with great comedy (just kidding). But if I did find someone who had taped it I would take their videocassette and smash it into little pieces (I hate Frasier).

Hey I am a great fan from way back of the show, and particularly of JL Dreyfus, but the only thing really inspired about the opener was the foundation. The show certainly can get a lot better because it has been a lot better. The show is by no means lost or on a death watch or anything. Just in need of more consistent inspiration. Bring back Newman and the Costanzas. Get Mulvah to say the word "Newman" with the classic venom. Get Susan's parents to say it. Have Hillary Clinton's files turn up in Susan's will. Something!

Confirming my belief that you are reacting to the little trance that a show's title puts you in and not to what you actually see happen on the screen during the show. In this case it looks like you are able to react to the Frasier brand name without actually even sitting in front of the TV. The opener was world-class comedy.

I have to agree. I am a huge Seinfeld fan, and only catch Fraiser when I have the time, but Fraiser's season opener was miles ahead of Seinfeld's in both intelligence and laughs. Both shows have very talented writers and actors!
