Fans debate Golden Globe awards, with one defending Seinfeld's loss to Michael J. Fox and Ally McBeal as justified, while another disputes claims about Fox's Emmy wins.
Just have to say, the Golden Globe committee is crazy. Michael J. Fox beat out Jerry Seinfeld for best comedic actor? Come on! Fox is funny but he's *nothing* compared to Jerry. And Ally McBeal beat out Seinfeld as best comedy? Again, what a *total* joke.
The fact is, Seinfeld is too far removed from regular sitcom trash for it to be recognized. It's clever not formula-based....and they just can't deal with that.

I love Seinfeld just like all of you, but I think Jerry Seinfeld is the weakest link in the chain. Every other cast member is superb as their characters, but Jerry's acting is hum-drumish (like Kevin Costner, in my opinion) He is obviously a tremendously talented comedian, since he put this whole thing together, but he is not the greatest actor.
Can you imagine him acting in a movie? (I don't know if he has, i dont think so)
Couldn't agree more. Jerry is a terrible actor and he always seems to have a smirk that will break into a laugh all the time. He is so careful to not get in any predicaments that his character is very boring.

well, I think that the reason Seinfeld was so good was that Jerry wasn't "acting" ..he was just a normal guy that spoke funny lines and made fun of the rest of the cast..if he had been an actor it would have lost something.he was just natural and that was what made it so funny...you just can't knock success...

BTW, I'll agree that, for the most part, the awards were bullshit. The best part was when Ving Rhames gave his award to Jack Lemmon. He was basically saying the voters screwed up, and Lemmon really deserved the award. That was probably the only award of the night that ended up going to the person who deserved it.
I agree. I think Seinfeld is the greatest show ever. Ally McBeal is original, but I think people will tire of those weird inserts. I did agree with Helen Hunt and Jack Nicholson, though. That was a great flic.
I don't think ving rhames meant that at all. His performance was far better than any of the other nominees. also, I love Seinfeld but this is without a doubt its worst year. Ally Mcbeal is awesome and deserved the award.
I'm kind of glad Ally McBeal won - that show is pretty hilarious.

Yeah, you�re right, i also get sicked when the camera close up Jim Carrey, did you see the expression he made? he was very sure he will win the globe and defeat Jerry, Carrey should return to the improv to learn something. Jerry is the best. Too bad that fox took the prize instead, the people selecting the winners are very crazy. Jerry is the best.

Sorry, I think MJF deserved the Comedic Actor award over JS. Even though I enjoy Seinfeld more than Spin City - MJF carries that show and is a major player in the presentation playing a wide range of bits. Jerry is the genius 'behind' the JS show but even he admits he is not an actor.

Which is why its only one about twenty five Emmy Awards at least in its history...not that I'm defending Ally Mcbeal but they probably wanted to give it to some new blood (personally I've never seen it)

Never mind all the bulls--- about seinfeld not being as good as it is. They never win any awards except People's Choice Awards. Sure they won for season 4 and Michael Richards won 3 times, 3 times, what happened to Jason Alexander? Sure Jason's "not as good" but he should've won for Season 7. Mike Richards deserved it for season 4. The reason why Seinfeld never wins any awards is because of Frasier, and the reason why Frasier wins all the time isn't because of its cleverness and its humor (both of which are very good), Frasier wins because its a spin-off of Cheers.
