I guess it will never be known why it was shown to all... The mystery of the refusal of the pie and "it" will never be known. This literary device is called a hook. Look into it. The refusal of the pie and the appearnce of "it" was put into the scripts in the hopes that one day it will be revealed to us. Whether the mysteries of "it" and the refusal of the pie will be revealed is inconsequential.

I seriously doubt it was the intent of the writers for any suspense to exist after the episodes. I would guess that the pie incident was to get the viewers wondering what possible reason she could have for he actions. Then the viewers were shown two situations where Jerry and George also refused the pie, accompanied by reasons why they did so. Her reason was most likely not revealed since if we knew why she refused the pie, it wouldn't be discussed anymore. This way, people keep imagining different scenarios that led up to her refusal, and the episode in general is more popular. I'd be surprised if anybody actually thinks that what happened to her will be revealed later. Unless it somehow ties into a future plot, there is no reason for it.
What mystery does "it" present? It's quite obvious what "it" was. He took it out in a pathetic attempt to initiate sex, as evidenced by his not-so-subtle hinting that they didn't have to end the date that night. If anyone actually thinks something else was going on, I'd be very interested to hear what their reasoning is. ;)
