In Memory of????

Hi Folks..2 questions. 1st..I was watching the syndicated reruns of Seinfeld tonight.. It was the episode where Kramer get beaten up by the kids at Karate, George is put on the board of directors of Susan's Foundation, and Elaine is put in charge of the J.Peterson catalog...At the end of the show there is a brief dedication "in loving memory" of someone. They flashed a quick picture and it almost looked like the actress who played Susan on the show. Does anyone know if she passed away in real life? Also, at the end of the first episode of the new season there was in "in memory of"...I missed the name,..was it someone on or close to the show? Please reply via email to [email] Thanks!!

I thought I was watching a new episode for this season, but maybe it was a syndicated rerun.

Nonetheless, I thought I heard reference to Susan, George's fiancee, being alive. Was she brought back from the dead?

A new episode on a Monday? If it referred to Susan's headstone in the beginning, it was "The Foundation" from Season 8 (last year), which was the syndicated episode this past Monday (10/27). New episodes air on Thursdays.

The "In loving memory..." flashed at the end of the season premire a few weeks ago was for NBC exec Brandon Tartikof (sp?) who died this last summer. I think he was one of the driving forces behind NBC's "Must See TV" which brought them out out their ratings slump back in the late 80's, in the pre-Seinfeld days.

As for the time you saw the "In loving Memory..." and they showed a picture of Susan, I don't know about that. Maybe it was just a joke brcause she the Susan character died in the show?

I saw that "In Loving Memory..." thing too. The first time, I thought that it was the actress that played Susan. Then last night, I watched the ending a little closer, and it doesn't look like the Susan actress. Perhaps a member of the crew or set, or a close friend of same???

I was working and didnt bring my tiny tv to watch/listen to on the way home, so I didnt get a chance to see the rerun..but it was in memory of someone ( I dont remember the name ) associated with the show who died around the time that that show was originally aired...The actress who played Susan ( again, I am so bad with names ) is alive and well. just her charactor died.

NOTE: This episode was dedicated "In Memory of Our Friend Marjorie Gross." Marjorie died from ovarian cancer earlier this year at the age of 40, in previous seasons, Marjorie was one of show's producers and writers. She was responsible for "The Secretary", "The Fusilli Jerry", "The Understudy" and "The Shower Head." During her battle early in 1996 she wrote an article titled "Cancer Becomes Me" for The New Yorker magazine on what it is like to be dying from the disease. Thanks to Jerry Balsam, Vince Gargiulo and Kenny Kramer for the information on Marjorie's article. Marjorie also wrote some episodes of the early 1980's comedy Square Pegs.
