Least favorite episodes

I know we're all huge fans of Seinfeld, but are there any episodes that you didn't really care for? That weren't funny, or maybe even lame? I think for me it would be THE MUFFIN TOPS...although the bit about Jerry shaving his chest hair was hilarious.

I guess that's why having several story lines in one episode is a good idea...if one is klinker, odds are the others will make up for it.

In fact, judging seasons, I would say season eight had more mediocre episodes than the others. Was than when Larry David left the show?

My least favorite episode is Episode 17 - The Busboy. The character "Antonio", the busboy, is very irritating to me. And there were hardly any funny moments at all. Contrary to your opinion, I liked Season 8 alot. You are correct, Larry David left the show after the 7th season...but he returned to write the series finale.

Season 8 was mediocre as a whole. Season 9 was not any better.

Yes, Larry left after season 7 - he said he was exhausted. His absence shows in the writing and story lines. In my opinion, altho' others like these episodes, the characters lose the strong groundings they had in the past seasons; the writing is much less crisp and less important to the enjoyment of watching; the themes become sillier and much less "real".

I am now curious as to how many words that have made it into our main stream language comes from these episodes - Seinfeld words, like: sponge-worthy, close-talker, shrinkage, soup nazi, regifter, etc. Most. I think, came from earlier episodes. Festivus is all I can really think about. There's yada yada but that was used, and had its original meaning, before Seinfeld.

I hate "The Dealership". I've said this here before. Paige, have you thought about it - George is starving. He has no money. He has no means of transportation. He has to ask Jerry for a dollar for a candy bar from the machine because he can't go anywhere to get something to eat.

All of a sudden, he not only comes up with 10 Twix bars, he doesn't eat any of them. He uses them instead in the candy lineup.

How does a guy who is starving, has absolutely no money, and no transportation, come up with 10 Twix bars and doesn't think to eat at least one?

Seasons 8-9 had a few clunkers, but also many good ones.

The last two seasons were much more silly, with less emphasis on plot, however for me these seasons had some of the best laugh out loud moments. 1) When Kramer get the meat slicer and pretends to be a dermatologist 2) When Darrin becomes Kramer's intern 3) When Kramer is addicted to Kenny Roger's chicken

For me, when Kramer finds the Merv Griffin Show set and does the show from his apartment, that's a high point in the show.

Many of the episodes in he final season were introspectives of the cast and their issues.

The Merv Griffin show was a statement about the Smithsonian asking for Jerry's apartment set when the show folded. Jerry , on Leno, said he did not want it to end up in a basement like in Raiders of the Lost Ark. He did not give it to them.

The Burning was about the cast (Richards) being type-cast when the show folded.

And a few others, not on the top of my head tonight...

I agree that all three of these were enjoyable. I still enjoy watching any of those 3 even after having seen them more than perhaps 20 times each.

As for my least favorite, I still have to go with "The Chinese Restaurant" and then too, the "Stakeout" wasn't that good in my opinion, either. Or "The Stocktip" or the one where Jerry thinks about moving to the 2 bedroom apartment and Elaine wants his place...

The Finale had its moments, but the final scene of the series where they are all sitting in jail was ultimately a letdown somehow to me.

"Little Jerry Seinfeld" was a good episode too, as was the "Bris", as was the episode where Kramer had Kidney stones - Jerry dated the gymnist,.. and so, so many more...

And what of Bookman, the Library cop? :o)

I really enjoyed the "Bottlecaps" too, but that tended to get played after I had seen it so often...

Just can't hack them. Very annoying, not funny.... to me.... Never liked Stiller, going back to the Ed Sullivan days! I just never thought he was funny. at all. in anything.

Where did he get the 10 Twix bars? The machine was out.

He WAS starving - this was pointed out frequently throughout the episode. He said it - "I'm starving". In the last scene in the cab, he wolfs down a sandwich because they finally were able to stop somewhere after the dealer, and Jerry bought him the sandwich. So there you have it - he's starving, somehow, somewhere (not the dealer) buys 10 Twix bars (with no way to get wherever they are), and doesn't eat one.

A "bad" Seinfeld episode is still good TV. That being said, my all- time least favorite episode will always be the finale. I wish the NBC brass would have let Jerry follow through with his original idea of having the four major characters killed off.
