Things that just don't make sense

Sure Seinfeld is great... best TV show ever but, once in a while, there were little things that didnt make any sense

1. Jerry depositing the checks of his grand mother from the last 10 years. I believe checks are only good for one year. 2 Jerry endorsing all the royalty checks. Since when do you need to endorse check to deposit them in your bank account 3. The liquor store that couldnt break a big bill for George (50$ or 100$ I dont remember).. A liquor store that can't break a big bill.. I dont see that happening... sorry

That's all i got right now...

anyone can think of more ?

Every time. I've never been able to deposit a check without endorsing it. You either have to sign them the old fashioned way or stamp them. Otherwise, they technically aren't negotiable.

In NYC, that's VERY common, especially at small stores. They want to minimize the number of large bills on hand, so they won't break them for you unless you buy a large amount of merchandise.

The fact that Jerry lived in such a small apartment with no amenities. I realize that when he moved here and met the real Kenny Kramer, he was living in a "lesser" pad. But even that building, which is located near the Times Square area, is a lot better than the way his UWS apartment was depicted.

I live in Canada and i have had to ask my dad for another check because last month he wrote me a birthday check and he put 2001 on it by mistake, making the check a year too old. Maybe the rules are different in Canada

Maybe my bank is just lax with the rules, cause i dont sign my paycheck once in a while and they take it

Canadian banks do not require you endorse a cheque(!) made out to yourself if it is being depoisited into your own account.

Actually, the greatest inconsistency occurs in "The Little Kicks". Any regular viewer of "Seinfeld" will have seen Elaine dancing in numerous earlier episodes. In short, there's ample evidence that Elaine is a fabulous dancer. She moves her hips beautifully as she gloats about being in "prime pouncing position" in "The Wait Out" (no.125) David Luckner is one lucky bastard! We get a preview of what "dentist to the stars" Tim Whatley might have enjoyed (had Elaine's hearing not been so severly impaired by those big bands!) in "The Mom and Pop Store" (no. 90). "I've always had a *huge* crush on Tim Whatley!" exclaims our delightful Ms Benes as Jerry informs her of her invitation to Dr. Whatley's pre-thanksgiving party. She dances across Jerry's living room, snapping her fingers and displaying exceptional rhythm and sensuality, as she anticipates the company of her innamorata.

Frankly, "The Little Kicks", though fiendishly hilarious, was entirely unbelievable. That darling Elaine Benes is as far from a "full body dry heave set to music", as Frank Costanza is from Fred Estaire.

These were not "in character" to the persona built over 7 previous seasons.

PS - the concept of the boss making a fool of one's self when dancing with
employees came from a SNL experience when Lorne Michaels (Lorne Lipowitz when I

They could have made Jerry captain of a star ship as a parody of Star Trek, but it certainly wouldn't have been consistant with his character. Too often in season nine, the four were pinned with character quirks that may have been funny for one episode, but had nothing to do with the people we had come to know. (example: George's spine-contorting wallet)

Of course it was - but that does not make it right for Jerry's character. In the interactions among the four main characters Jerry had to be the anchor - he was the unflappable "center'. He can't be an actor on the stage of absurdity. Kramer, George and to some extent, Elaine can be. Larry David knew this and used his great understanding of classic writing to create the matrix of traditional mythic characters by developing standard literary archetypes that stood up so well for 7 years. It really fell apart in years 8 and 9 and that is why so many people did not like many of those episodes. Sure they were hunourous but the were no longer "Seinfeld".

No it does not. Elaine was the misunderstood hard working book editor. She made the conservative, responsible decisions that in many cases went awry but through actions beyond her control. She was the niaive "Alice" swept up in the "wonderland" of NYC - it was her dream to marry the doctor, to mingle with the Kennedy's, to return to the real (bizarro) world that was constantly undermined by her own tragic circumstances. Trapped like Dorothy she could not get "home". But she was never a silly irresponsible flake that was portrayed in the final two years.

also - there is one episode when jerry's yells out his window (upstairs) to
call to kramer!!?  - yet he lives across the hall??    can't remember the
circumstance or episode though   :(
