I'm sorry it had to come to this...

All right, here it is. I think I know officially HATE Elaine. (Or to quote George: "I genuinely dislike her.") The 10/10 episode is what did it for me. She thinks she's so cool and she bosses everyone around, and then they had her beat up Frank!! Argh!!!!! My brother had always hated her but I never really did until last night. Why doesn't Jerry or Kramer just haul off and pop her sometime? Hehe. That's what I'm waiting for. PLEASE comment to this as I want to see if anyone else has changed the way they feel about her. Thanks.

I have to agree. Watch the old episodes - Elaine was funny, not simply obnoxious. She has turned into one of the least likable people on the show. I wonder what Julia Louis-Dreyfus thinks of her change in character. p.s. What's going on with her hair? It was cute short. It was cute long. But it can't be both at the same time, can it? Terry

TF>Terry I love Elaine...and I really think that George is the worst character on that show...not including Newman..."I despize him"..;) He comes off as such a "cool" guy on tv..when really he is just a desparate male...He obviously thinks that he is all that...which is far away from the real truth...In my opinion..the most obnoxious person on that show is George.

In the earlier episodes of the show George was easily the least likeable of the characters. Starting with The Postponement episode early last season, Elaine started closing the gap on George in terms of being least likeable. A parallel between the two characters is intended (In The Opposite, Elaine says "I've become George!"). George probably has done a lot better than he should normally have because he has little talent, low intelligence, no looks and no ambition but he can con his way thru situations. Elaine has intelligence, looks and ambition but dooms herself through her conceit and pettiness.

George is the BEST character on the show. I've read that he's based on Larry David to some degree. Kramer is good with his freaky behaviour, Jerry's laziness and selfishness is good too, Elaine has this superiority complex that makes for great laughs but George is the best, here's why.

He knows that he is a lying, conniving weasel and has no genuine desire to change. This man is so self-conscious he will go through with a wedding just to prove people wrong about his sense of commitment. He's cheap, neurotic and more than a little hyperactive. Basically he's the person you hope you NEVER become.

Remember when Jerry was telling Elaine about a lie he was going to tell? (Forget which episode) She says: "Who do you think you are? COSTANZA?"

Alas, no. There's only one George. IMO one of the all time CLASSIC T.V. characters.

The people who dub in dialogue for swearing on T.V. are a bunch of Mickey Fickeys!!

I think that Elaine is beginning feel as if she no longer belongs with this group. Perfect example is in Bizaro world - where she preferred the others to Jerry, George, & Kramer. Going back to them made her feel trapped.

I think Seinfeld will continue to have some funny episodes - but this is definetly the beginning of the end.

Rob, Don't feel bad; I never could warm up to _Seinfeld_ until I realized that I didn't like Elaine. The great thing is you don't have to like her to enjoy the show! Thank goodness! In fact the more bad things that happen to her, the funnier it is.

Maybe they'll all get into a softball/baseball game. Kramer will be on the mound, Elaine at the plate. Kramer throws a little "chin music" because Elaines crowding the plate, and he owns the inside. She's back up, crowding the plate, and he plunks her. A melee ensues, and your wish comes true? Sound feasible? I wouldn't mind her getting a fat lip in the process. She definitely is getting to be too much. The tone of voice on her little toast "Here's to those who wish us well...", was a bit too much for me.
