Hi I was just wondering how the Nielsens ratings are worked out. How can they tell who watches what?

Nielsen has a special box attached to the televisions of participating viewers (also know as nielsen families). Whatever show the viewer is watching is automatically transmitted to Nielsen. There are some inputs like how money people are watching, their sex, age, etc.
