The Baby Shower

I was watching The Baby Shower the other night, and I found a few things in the beginning that I don't really get. Maybe someone can explain what the following things mean, and what's funny about it:

1. JERRY: You should have heard him talking about Chappaquiddick - trying to blame the whole thing on bad directions.

2. JERRY: You believe this guy? He holds a grudge like Khomeini. (Who is Khomeini, and what did he do?)

• GEORGE: Let Maria Shriver give her a baby shower. (Who's Maria Shriver?)

4. GEORGE: (Germanic) Ich bin ein sucker. (Who is George quoting? A Kennedy?)

A famed incident from the 60s when Teddy (?) Kennedy had a late night car accident in which his secretary (Mary Jo Copacek??) was killed. There were shady circumstances - suggestions they were having an affair/he was drunk. And I think he left the scene of the accident. I read up on this today: it wasn't as long as a few days, police were called within a couple of hours. But it does appear true that he left the girl to drown without trying to save her
