As for George being Jewish, his last name is Costanza which sounds like Italian. The name is certainly not Jewish, but his parents appear to be Jewish "type".
Anyway, I just read that they will be doing just one more year of the show. I also read that Jason Alexander (George) will be leaving the show. I hope he doesn't leave before the show ends....it just won't be as funny without him....

A number of people have brought up the subject of the conversion episode to thwart my thesis of George being jewish However I do beleive the conversion was called off when the nun got the hots for Kramer.
For the last time he is not Jewish. Technically he is Lavitian Orthodox although he only converted to get a woman. In that episode he said that Lavitain Orthodox was almost the same as his religion. OK!
Well, I think last night's (2/22/96) episode may have settled the question once and for all. George's father is clearly Italian. That does not necessarily mean that he is NOT jewish, but it makes it unlikely. On the other hand, we don't know George's mother's ethnicity or religion. So, it's still possible that George may be jewish if his mother is jewish. DK
Jerry's humor has always been, moreso than outrageously funny, to draw the audience into joke with him. In stand-up, it's what makes people like his humor. Even if something he says is isn't immediately hilarious, you get the sense that you are on stage with him. This is what he has done with his show. So even when you see that he's acting, or smiling at his own antics, you feel like you are in on the joke with him. J. carlson
IMHO, george's mother is jewish. His father is of Italian origin, therefore, he may be Catholic. Then he converted to Latvian Orthodox.
