😂 Loved it

Fans praise Michael Richards' physical comedy on the Tonight Show, particularly his luggage carousel bit, with debate over Jay Leno's hosting compared to Johnny Carson.

I saw Michael Richards on the Tonight Show last night and thought he was hilarious. He's got to be one of the greatest masters of physical comedy. I love the clip where he comes down the luggage chute at the airport - the way that he's trying to compose himself and straighten up while climbing out of the carousel - I was on the floor. He also has this look on his face like "I meant to do that. No problem here." Others on my list include:

Art Carney Jackie Gleason John Ritter John Belushi Curly Howard Laurel and Hardy

Any other suggestions for the list??....

I thought the whole segment was a riot, but I really liked the bit about exercising his neck muscles, and the part where he picked the pieces off the front of Jay's desk. I'll have to watch the show now just to see what happens to the desk.

One final aside. Is it just me, or does Jay Leno seem to be suffering from a chronic, debilitating case of Lame Disease??!! Sometimes it appeared that he didn't quite *get* Richards. His comments like 'settle down' and 'relax' annoyed me - doesn't he realize that this is what 'Kramer' does?? Johnny would have been rolling on the floor with the rest of us. Jay also comes off as patronizing, and I hate when he sets up the guest by prying an embarrassing story from them, and then bashes them with it for the rest of the interview. I think (and hope) that the Letterman/Leno battle will improve both shows - get those remote controls tuned up!

P.S. Does anyone know how to get a copy of the GAP photograph?? I've got to get one for my office.

On the Tonight show one of the clips showed Kramer having some kind of attack behind the couch where Jerry and Elaine were sitting. Can someone refresh my memory - what caused this?

One of my favorite Kramer bits is when he was struggling for the seat on the subway - just thinking of it brings a smile :-)

Long live Kramer!!! ==:-}

On the show where Kramer had an attack behind the couch, he was allergic to the sound of Lisa Hartman's (I think that's her name) voice from Entertainment Tonight. It was very funny.

PS I just read a January edition of Entertainment Weekly and they had an article on JS proclaiming him one of the best ten entertainers of 1992. :)

The sound of Mary Hart's voice from Entertainment Tonight. This was soon after an actual case was reported where some person was having seizures whenever they heard her voice. Who better to have the same malady than Kramer?

Kramer was having an 'attack' while listening to Mary Hart's voice (Entertainment Tonight was on the television). This happend in real life to some woman (I think, from Albany).

As for the attack, that was a joke on the real-world case of a woman who went into convulsions whenever Mary Hart's voice came on the TV (Entertainment Tonight). The same thing was happening to Kramer.

Charlie Chaplin Super Dave Osborne ;-) Harold Lloyd Victor Borge (Best physical comedian over the age of 70)

I think Charlie Chaplin is amazing for his combination of originality and imagination with physical ability. The scene in Modern Times where he roller skates blind folded on a balcony with no railing gives me the willies. I highly recommend Modern Times and City Lights and your local library might even have them on video. Mine does. . . . . . . . . .

Yes, Yes, Yes. Isn't it amazing that you can go back to a pre-talky film and watch comedy that transcends time. It truly bespeaks of Chaplin's comic genius that he can still make us laugh in such old outdated vehicles. I want to include "Gold Rush" (I think this is the name) where he is stranded in a cabin with his burly companion with nothing to eat and they begin to imagine each other as a scrumptious meal.

And as long as we're making lists of great comedians, I would like to add:

W.C. Fields

Rube just sitting down at the poker table: "Is this what they call a
                                               game of chance?"
Fields, muttering under his breath: "Not the way I play it"
louder: :Yes, sure. Put your money on the table, partner".

How about Steve Martin? That scene in _All of Me_ when he first gets half-possessed still makes me crack up.
