I live in downtown San Francisco almost all the apartments in SF buzz you up by pressing 9 the PHONE even the old blds. I think jerrys would aswell

I have lived in two old buildings in berkeley and you always had to push a button on the little box by the door to get buzzed in. Just yelling into it NEVER WORKED ;)
I believe that Jerry's apartment is equipped with a speaker, microphone and two buttons. When someone rings his bell, he presses one button which turns on the microphone and asks who it is. "It's George..." Jerry pushes the button again and says, "Come on up" then hits the second button which opens the door lock.
In one episode, Jerry attempts to buzz up Elaine, she re-rings his buzzer, and he says "What!!?", Elaine responds, "I missed it...." Jerry presses the second button again, and holds it a little longer this time.
Did anyone notice sometimes he buzzes up with the left button and sometimes with the right.
Yep! I noticed it too. I think he buzzed the door with the right in the earlier episodes and now buzzes with the left. I also noticed that on last night's episode (10/10) when that crazy guys comes over after they get back from Death Blow, Jerry doesn't hit the door button at all. He just talks to the guy.
