I was just kicking around some ideas for endings to "Seinfeld", and some rather interesting ones popped into my head...here's a peek:
--The entire show, uninterupted by commercials (a la Mad About You) takes place at Monk's Cafe. It'll start, the four of them will sit down, order drinks. Then they'll start talking about the day, all the crazy stuff that happened. Stuff they remember from old episodes will come up. They'll argue about stuff like Superman and salsa. It'll be like a normal meal at a coffee shop with a bunch of friends. They'll grab some dessert, and Jerry looks at his watch, and realizes that he's going to be late for a comedy show he's doing. He gets up and leaves, and the other three just look at each other. After an uncomfortable minute, they decide to go home. We then cut to Jerry telling a joke to his audience, about Alpha Bits or something trivial. Then he'll say "Thanks, you've been a great audience, goodnight", and we'll see him walk off stage. Not only is it a quirky way to end a quirky series, but it's kind of symbolic (the other three relying on Jerry to tie them together, etc.)
--The entire episode takes place backstage at Jerry's comedy club. He's onstage, and we cut from Jerry's monologue to the antics of the other three. Again, this ends with Jerry walking offstage, just like the other one.
--The entire episode is the four of them in Jerry's apartment, sitting around and watching TV. They could even do a MST3K-type "roasting" of other NBC shows.
--Jerry and George produce another show for NBC, and the entire final episode can be the four of them watching an entire episode of the new show.
Well, what do you think. Personally, I think that the "Monk's Cafe" episode would be the perfect ending to the show about nothing. It would give suitable closure, but it wouldn't have to seem like the be-all, end-all of Seinfeld.
