A question about "The Seinfeld Chronicles"

At the opening credits, there's a name of a woman.....Lee Garlington, who played the waitress, Claire. Did Elaine replace her because when Jerry was on CNN, he said that they needed a woman on the show and they casted Elaine. They had a woman already.
