HBO is expected to announce this week a 10-episode order of a half-hour series starring Larry David, the comedian and co-creator of "Seinfeld." The project is described as a slice-of-life look at David's daily doings from the same idiosyncratic perspective that helped make that other show about nothing such a monster hit.
The series is an offshoot of last year's well-received HBO comedy special "Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm." The special chronicled David's reluctant decision to return to his roots as a stand-up comic and tape an HBO comedy special, which he ultimately bails out of at the eleventh hour. The series will be executive produced by David and Gavin Polone.
In addition to his work on "Seinfeld," David was a writer and performer on ABC late-night variety series "Fridays," alongside future "Seinfeld" co-star Michael Richards, from 1980-82. David also penned the 1998 feature "Sour Grapes." Last year, he set up another comedy feature project at Castle Rock with writer Steve Adams. David is repped by Endeavor and manager Polone.
