Jew or not a Jew?

I think I've heard Elaine make Catholic references when speaking of her family. George's last name (*Costanza* is the best spelling I can improvise) doesn't sound Jewish to my Okie ears -- but his father is played by Jerry Stiller, Mr. Catskills himself already! So who knows?
