Jerry on "Benson"?!

I was checking out the "notable TV guest appearances" of the cast of Seinfeld today at imdb.com. Very surprised to learn of Jerry's four-episode stint as 'Frankie, the governor's joke writer' on Benson (and that he once had bit part as a plumber in a 1987 episode of "The Cosby Show"?). Pretty strange. I didn't know Jerry did any other TV in the 80's besides his Tonight Show/Letterman appearances. Of course Jason, Julia and Michael had a few good ones in their early days, as well.

Benson isn't shown in syndication where I am; and with no luck after a quick Google search, I guess the only way to see Jerry as Frankie would be a future segment on "Before They Were Stars" or something...

I believe there are photographs of it on the web somewhere. Try doing a search at Google Groups for alt.tv.seinfeld and you'll probably be able to find them.

It was supposed to be longer...Jerry was hired with the idea that he'd be a regular on the show...but the producers of "Benson" thought Jerry wasn't funny and his character wasn't clicking, so they canned him. They told him he'd never make it on series TV, to stick to standup or try a talk show instead..

Which proves that prime time TV producers are not infallible.
