death of Susan

I have heard from a lot of people that they were shocked that they killed off Susan. What's the big deal? What if Susan was a character that had never appeared on the show but was occasionally referred to as George's dead ex-girlfriend? I'd wager no one would even give it a second thought, then. That is why Seinfeld is such a wonderful show. It is completly REAL! I enjoy the aspects pointed out on Seinfeld that relate so closely to our own lives. Death is a part of life. Sorry Susan.

I think all the hubub about the death of Susan stems from the popularity of the show. Does anyone remember when Jerry killed Fulton? The trashy newsmags didn't do stories on that. I thought Jason Alexander did an incredible job in the death scene. George looked like it was all he could do to keep from jumping up and down. One of the funniest George moments they've done.

I'm not trying to sound sarcastic or anything like that, so please don't take this the wrong way. That's called comedy. That's what makes this show work. It wouldn't be funny to see them greeving over her. Not to mention totally out of character for George. It was obvious early on that he doesn't really care about Susan and was always looking for the way out of the engagement. Her death was his way out.

I also apologize too. I am also new to this newsgroup.

ExACtly!! I'm sure George felt bad in some small way, but George's main concern is George, and he wanted out of the engagement so badly. So when he was OUT, baby, that was his focus. The fact that Susan had died and let him out is secondary.

That's not what the tabloids are saying.... I'll bet on them any day on this.

BTW, I heard a guy being interviewed on the radio today. He was referred to as "the head writer of Seinfeld". He was plugging a movie he's done "Looking For One Eyed Jack". He said he wrote for Seinfeld for 2 years. He's moved on now, and sounded a bit bitter about Susan getting killed off.

He said he was responsible for the episode where we find out Kramer's first name...

And he told his good friend, Ron Shipp about it...

Actually, "djk," George, as a fictional character, has fictional feelings. If you have no interest in discussing fictional characters, feelings, or situations, why are you reading/posting to a newsgroup discussing same?
