Let me say from the outset that I am totally pro-life.
I thought the latest Seinfeld episode was great. It was the first time that I saw any TV show that treated abortion which didn't go out of its way to be totally politically correct. The script writers did a marvelous job of portraying the dispute\ in a humorous light without sneering at anyone.
Actually, if anything it was slightly pro-life. The main joke was Elaine's incredulity that anyone except mindless weirdos could be against abortion. (I've known many women like her: the secularized, Cosmo-reading, moderate feminist urban type who live in this subculture which they are sure is the culture).
Also, there was, lo and behold one woman at the restaurant who said she was "with you Poppy." Wow! They actually allowed there to be one pro-life woman on the show.
On the other hand of course, Poppy was as silly as Elaine.
Neither character, however, was presented in a mean-spirited way.
You've got to hand it to those folks at Seinfeld, they've done the impossible.
I worship this show. (O.K., I just venerate it)
