I never understood that joke. It comes out of nowhere

"A dingo ate my baby" comes from that sad story of the Australian couple living in the outback who had a dingo eat their baby and then when they returned to town they were tried for murder because the authorities did not believe them. Later it was turned into one of the 5 worst docu-dramas of all time. The actress playing the mother in the doc-drama also did not have a convincing Australian accent. I think it is one of the best one-lners as well.

It was Meryl Streep who played her... It was actually a pretty terrible movie, as it were!
