Has it occurred to anyone how it might be a clever way of finding a compatible partner ( friend ) by asking early on,
" Do you like 'Seinfeld' & why exactly do you like 'Seinfeld' " ?
The quality of the replies would give you a pretty good idea about the suitability of your potential girl-friend ( partner etc. ).
For what it's worth, I think Seinfeld is in a totally different league from all other American sitcoms ( I haven't caught up with 'The Simpsons' yet, but I'd be very surprised if it was comparable ) .
So, why is Seinfeld different from all the other glamorized caricatures ( aka sitcoms ) ?
Well, I can think of several reasons straightaway:
a) 4 likeable characters one can relate to ( less so with Kramer ? ) b) The situations /plots are believable, down-to-earth ( & earthy ) c) Witty one-liners ( reminiscent of Woody Allen's ) d) Sharp and laconic dialogue full of innuendoes. e) Aimed at an intelligent rather than a voyeuristic audience. .....
Any more ideas ? ( Replies from fellow Europeans especially welcome . )
