Mr.Pitts' building is safe!

The other day I was walking my dog up West End Avenue, and from a distance I saw a half dozen fire trucks in front of Mr. Pitts' building and smoke was all over the street, and my first thought was, "Oh no! Not the ivy!" But as I got closer I noticed that the fire was in the building directly across the street. It looked like an entire apartment on the 10th floor was burned out.

Another note- after watching "The Cigar Store Indian" the other day, they showed the number 6 train when Elaine, Jerry and Kramer were going to George's parents house in Queens. But the 6 doesn't go to Queens (it goes between Manhattan and the Bronx).

In fact, except for George's work, most baseball references on the show were to the Mets, leading me to believe that was the team the characters rooted for. I know Jerry is a Mets fan. (I think we've got another list in the works!)

In the pilot, Jerry is about to watch the Mets game he taped, but Kramer spoils it for him.

In "The Subway", Jerry discusses the Mets with the naked man.

In "The Keys", George asks Jerry how the Mets did; Jerry says they lost.

In "The Puerto Rican Day", the gang are coming home from a Mets game.

A rare reference to the Yankees came in "The Letter", but that was because one of the plots involved Elaine and her Orioles cap. As that show took place prior to interleague play, it had to be a Yankees game because unless it were the World Series, the Orioles would never play the Mets.

Maybe so, but to me the characters' sympathies seemed to be more with the Mets, since it was them rather than the Yankees who came up in casual conversation. The only time the Yankees really came up were when George had some problem at work. (And it's pretty obvious why George was given a job with the Yankees rather than the Mets. George did try the best he could to get fired from the Yankees to get hired by the Mets.... no?

I think George was actually a fan of both the Mets and the Yankees. Remember when he tried to get fired from the Yankees so that he could take the job with the Mets? I think the entire gang basically is a fan of every sport New York has to offer, from the Mets to the Yankees, to the Knicks to the Rangers, to even a tennis match.
